STEM Programs

At the State Museum in Columbia, SC.

Many schools have started holding STEM programs. These may occur during the school day or in the early evening,

Dooley Planetarium has been invited to participate at these events over the last few years.

Our goal in participating is to provide a hands-on experience for the students, parents, and teachers. We involve students from the University as content providers who will also be interacting with the students.

We have a variety of demo items that can be brought out to these events that cover a variety of STEM topics. Including (but not limited to):

  • Gravity
  • Moment of Inertia
  • Angular Momentum
  • Light
  • Static Charges
  • Colors
  • Electronics (robots, Arduino, etc.)

If your school would like for us to come participate in your STEM event, please contact Dr. Myers. We will be in touch to discuss your program, the dates, times, and see if we will be able to attend. We do not schedule events the last two weeks of the semester due to final exams.
